The first class offered under the new Sustainable Energy Studies program at Southwestern College has become a success! The class, entitled SES 101 – Sustainable Energy Studies filled rapidly with students and accepted a few crashers. This class introduces Sustainable practices across the college curriculum and covers areas such a a practices in architecture, engineering, heating and cooling, lighting, proper land use, and landscaping. It allows students to get a solid overview of sustainable careers while allowing them to pick and choose the green career that most interests them.
Southwestern College’s Sustainable Energy Studies program can now boast of a new student club. Called the Sustainable Building Club, this student run organization will foster the development of students interested in sustainable practices and green technology. The club will bring in guest speakers to talk about the future of sustainability and the current trends. In addition, it will provide social events, green seminars, and it is a great way to meet fellow students interested in sustainable careers.
